All submerged main drains in Public Pools and Spas / Hot Tubs must meet the ASME/ANSI A112.19.8-2007 STANDARD BY 12/19/2008 or be closed to the public until they meet the performance standard. If your Pool or Spa drain cover does not have a stamp indicating ANSI A112.19.8-2007 compliance it will be illegal to operate after 12/19/2008

The picture above (center) shows a what looks like a "relatively minor" injury. When you consider that even 2 or 3 men in shallow water would not be able to release this child from the drain with the pump running, the potential for drowning makes you realize the possibility that this was no "minor injury". There are many times that the apparent injuries are far worse, evisceration or disembowelment, are the two that can lead to immediate death. Drowning of course can be the outcome of drain entrapment. Change your drain covers today, and install a SVRS on your pool pump.
